Renewal of Leeds NE Secondary Schools – the crowning achievment

On Friday 11th September 2009, Fabian Hamilton went back to school. It was no less an occasion than the first day that staff and pupils were able to use the rebuilt Allerton Grange High school buildings for the first time. The reconstruction of the school is another stunning architectural realisation and provides a stunning environment for learning. Although controversial in some people's mids, the Private Finance Initiative has now completeley rebuilt every single secondary school in the Leeds North Eeast constituency. On seeing this final link in the chain, Fabian said, "In 1997 when I was first elected people were telling me every day that they wanted to see the government renew the outdated and unsuitable buildings used by our schools. Now look at what we have today. Wow! And it's not just the buildings. They are fully staffed and equipped with some of the best teachers and educational resources in the world."

A City Learning Centre was provided at Allerton Grange High School some years ago. Now the whole school buidling has been rebuilt for the 21st Century. For further pictures of the school on its opening day. Click here.
