St James Hospital Beckett Wing
Fabian meets staff and is impressed by recent improvements
While helping a constituent with issues concerning hospital treatment, Fabian visited the Beckett Wing at St James Hospital on Wednesday 30th September 2009. The visit was arranged through Maggie Boyle, the Chief Executive of the Leeds Teaching Hospitals Trust with whom Fabian met the previous week. There have been some recent concerns over the conditions in this part of the hospital.

During his visit Fabian was able to meet and discuss issues with Janice Colbeck, Matron responsible for the Specialist Acute hospital for Older People. On touring some wards Fabian was immediately impressed with enthusiasm, energy and professional commitment of the ward sisters and all their staff. Much work has been completed recently to raise conditions and facilities in the Becket Wing to modern standards. Fabian was able to speak to a number of patients who were very pleased with the treatment they were receiving and the conditions of their stay in the hospital. The quality of the medical and general care was readily evident both to Fabian and to the constituents he was helping.
Fabian extends his admiration and sincere thanks all staff at St James Hospital for their care and highly professional work which so clearly exemplifies the dedication of staff working in the National Health Service and particularly so here in Leeds.
