Claiming Child Tax Allowance or Child Credits
People can simply make an application for this rebate from the Inland Revenue. They can phone the enquiries line on 0845 366 7800 to check if they are entitled to the rebate and the application form (11CTC) can be found online. However without knowing the name of the form, finding it online is not straightforward.
An Inland Revenue spokesman has said:
Allowances that have been unclaimed in previous years may be applied for. For 2002-2003 the closing date is 31st January 2009). There is no need for any claimant to need to use a firm or organisation to claim on their behalf for this rebate."
Free independent help is available from the Leeds Citizens' Advice Bureau through 30 Children's Centres across Leeds. This service is open to anyone with a child under 5 and to pregnant women and their partners. Appointments can be booked by ringing: 0113 281 6703.
