Support for the Lord Mayor's Charity

Notwithstanding the grueling challenge that he set himself in cycling to Berlin this summer in aid of Heart Research and other local charities, Fabian volunteered to undertake an additional sponsored cycle ride from London to Paris in support of the Lord Mayor, Councillor Anne Castle, who has nominated Crohnʼs and Colitis UK as her preferred charity during her term of office.

Long distance cycle rides have become an important part of Fabianʼs schedule as they have helped him to overcome the diabetes with which he was diagnosed just a few years ago. It has also made him very conscious of the needs of many groups of people who suffer with long term and serious health difficulties. Fabian was moved when he learned of the considerable pain and discomfort experienced by sufferers with Crohnʼs disease and Colitis and he hopes that the money that he seeks to raise will go some way to alleviate the suffering of a few people.

Fabian started his journey from the House of Commons on Friday 28th September. The next day he used the ferry from Newhaven to Dieppe and he arrived in Paris on Sunday 30th September after a road journey of some 180 miles.

Fabian arrives in Paris together with athlete Paul Drinkwater from Moortown who cycled with him throughout the journey.

Fabian asks those who might wish to support him to make a donation to the Crohnʼs and Colitis charity using his ʻJust Givingʼ web site at http://www.justgiving.com/FabianHamiltonMP
