For the past fourteen years, Fabian's friends Stuart and Francine Levin have organised a fundraising dinner at Leeds United Football Club's banqueting suite on Elland Road to raise money for a charity called Make a Dream.
Make a Dream offers fulfill the dreams of very sick or terminally ill children in Yorkshire. Stuart, who started his working life as a market trader, routinely raises up to £100,000 in one night in November for this charity which has no administrative overheads and which ensures that every penny raised goes straight to the children who need its support and help.
Fabian has attended every fundraising dinner, bar one, since 1999. He normally offers a guided tour around Parliament as one of the auction prizes and this has raised a large sum in the past from generous donors. Every year, Stuart and Francine get some extraordinary guests to speak or perform at the dinner and this year was no exception.
Fabian is pictured with three of the Chilean Miners who became international celebrities following their dramatic rescue after an underground collapse last year. In all, 33 miners spent more than three weeks underground and all were safely brought to the surface following the extraordinary rescue mission watched on television by more than a fifth of the entire world's population.
This year, Stuart and Francine raised £65,000 for Make a Dream.
