Factfinding visit to the Middle East

On the 4th of February 2009 the Bill Rammmel MP Minister of State at the Foreign Office with respnsibility for the Middle East attended a meeting of the Foreign Affairs Committee of which Fabian Hamilton is a member. A delegation of the committee is now to make a fact-finding visit to Gaza and Israel and Fabian Hamilton will join the group together with Sir John Stanley (Conservative) leader of the team, Sandra Osborne (Labour) and Paul Keetch (Liberal Democrat). The delegation leaves on Monday 17th March.

While away, Fabian will have the opportunity to see the situation in the Gaza Strip at first hand as a short visit into the territory has been permitted by the Israeli authorities who control access. The delegation will also visit Sderot the town in Isreal situated very close to the north east perimeter of the Gaza Strip that has been subjected to repeated bombardment of missiles fired by Hamas from within Gaza.
