Multifaith Centre Opens
The ground breaking MultiFaith Centre at Allerton High School was opened on Monday 13th July by the world famous UK athlete Colin Jackson CBE. Fabian Hamilton MP joined the celebration at the school to congratulate all concerned and to add his best wishes for the contribution that the centre will make to building trust and undertanding between pupils of different faiths and backgrounds. The occasion was saddened to reflect on the absence of Eileen Moxon, the Chair of Governors at Allerton High School who had worked tirelessly to establish the centre but who died just a few weeks before the opening. Some pictures taken at the opening are shown below.

The opening ceremnony comprised presentations from pupils of different faiths represented at the school: Christianity, Judaism, Hindu, Sikhism, Islam and Buddism. Hindu pupils gave a most elegant dance display in traditional costume and explained the faith significance of the movements repeated in each danse.
