On Saturday 21st April 2012, Fabian joined fellow campaigners against lap dancing clubs in Leeds in the city centre outside one of the establishments, the Red Leopard. Judith Cummins, Councillor Kamila Maqsood, Councillor Rebecca Charlwood, Councillor Alison Lowe and Rachel Reeves MP were present to call for a severe restriction or even elimination of the licences granted in Leeds for such establishments. In particular campaigners have particular concerns about the visibility of these clubs and the general impression they give of the city. There is also the concern about the way that workers in the clubs may be degraded by the experience and the image of the role of women that such clubs convey. Proponents of the clubs argue that they are not illegal, they respond to consumer demand and that many people rely on them for their livelihood.
The Councillors and MPs stance was reported on the front page of the Evening Post on Monday 23rd April.
