Solutions for a planet

Fabian was honoured to be able to join staff and students of Carr Manor High School at the Grand Final of the Solutions for a Planet comptetition that was held at Westminster Palace in London on Wednesday 11th July 2012. Fabin was delighted that Carr Manor was awarded 4th place in the National event. The Solutions for the Planet (S4TP) mission is to build open innovation partnerships between young people, businesses and communities. These partnerships help create sustainable big ideas that will benefit our society, economy and environment.

The Teen XP team from Carr Manor High contested the Solutions for the Planet Grand Final at Westminster Palace in London. Reaching the final was a phenomenal achievement, with some 2,500 teams entering the competition from across the country.

The team produced a fantastic presentation on the day which won a great deal of praise from a number of senior business people, MP's, teachers and pupils from other schools. As expected, the competition in the Grand Final was extremely strong and the team did a great job to finish in fourth position overall. The event itself was a great experience, with the group visiting Buckingham Palace, taking a ride on the London Eye and enjoying a guided tour of the Palace of Westminster; a privilege reserved for very few people. Over the course of the day, the team met Nick Clegg, David Blunkett MP, Hilary Benn MP and also spent time with Fabian Hamilton MP who, with his colleagues took time out of his schedule to come along and watch the team present.

The team; Alex, Jaskiran, Maryam and Rachel were great ambassadors for Carr Manor and were highly praised for their work, attitudes and enthusiasm.
