Well House drainage improvement under way

Is this the end of our worries about flooding? Work begins on Well House culvert

Truly a sight for sore eyes or a relief for wet feet! These photographs show the work that has now started in Well House Grove to build a new culvert to carry water from the beck in Gledhow Valley. The residents in Well House Grove will be inconvenienced for thir street being closed by the crane but I am sure that they will be relieved that the Environment Agency has now taken action to ensure the drainage in the area.

For details on the action I took to raise the matter at Westminster - Click Here

A large culvert is being built in the base of the valley to carry the excess water. The crane, and we have here the crane driver's view, is being used to hoist into position the sections of the culvert togther with the concrete and other materials.

The flooding issue in the Well Houses district has been fraught with problems over costs and responsibilities but I am delighted to see such tangible proof that something is being done at long last.
