I am extremely disappointed that eight Labour MPs have decided to resign from the Party – particularly Luciana Berger who has received some horrendous and disgusting abuse recently. However, I strongly believe that these resignations will only split our vote in important Labour constituencies across the country. Leaving Labour only strengthens the Tories. In this time of national crisis — and while the Tories continue to act with the utmost incompetence over Brexit — we need unity more than ever, and to stay focussed on winning the next General Election. I hope, though, that members will not abuse those have chosen to leave our Party. At such a crucial time, we need to concentrate on exposing the way in which the Conservatives are tearing our country apart and not to turn in on ourselves.
